Old Dominion RC&D Council Hold Water Quality Presentations

Dave Roberts, RC&D Coordinator for Old Dominion RC&D Council  gives a water quality presentation to 8 teachers during a teacher in-service day at the Lunenburg High School.

The presentation included using a water testing kit to test water for Dissolved Oxygen, Biological Oxygen Demand, pH, Phosphate, Nitrate, Coliform, and Turbidity. The purpose of the presentation was to explain to the teachers how they can incorporate water quality and watersheds into their curriculum.

At Nottoway High School, a presentation was given to the Envirothon Team, which included 7 students and 2 teachers. All of the students participated in running water quality tests similar to those explained in the Lunenburg presentation.  The presentations took place on January 16, 2009 and January 21, 2009.

The water testing kits were provided with funding from the Albemarle-Chowan Watershed Roundtable and Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
